Overview

XML2CSM is a powerful web application that allow to turn any valid xml files into an easy to use and instant Contents Management Solution.

With the help of powerful functionality, you can personalize any existing xml file, to give to your clients a perfect solution to keep up-to-date xml based web-projects, banners, galleries or other flash components.

For example, you can define which nodes or attributes must show a media-preview, or change labels without break functionality or even manage any type of files, included text or html files which can be edited as you can do with a regular text editor.

The application comes with two-level of user (MD5 encryption) that keeps even more simpler the user interface for final users.

Beyond that, the installation process is completely seamless and any server error will be notify to the user in a human readable way. Furthermore a backup copy of each xml file is generated after each saving, so you can revert to the last version if something went wrong.

Requirements

XML to CMS is built with Adobe Flex SDK 3.5. It needs Flash Player 9 or newer installed.

The server side is written in PHP. The minimum PHP version is 4.2 or newer.

No database is required, but you need to change the file/folder permissions in some files (for example the xml files you are going to edit or folders used to upload assets), through a regular FTP application.

You can brand XML to CMS by replacing the logo.png inside the ‘application’ folder. You should keep the height to 300px to preserve the layout of the application.

XML to CMS is intended to be a powerful and flexible tool.
The full source code is included, but keep in mind that it is a very complex application, editing the source code is for senior developers only.

Installation

To install XML to CMS follow these simple steps:

  1. Unzip the main.zip file.
  2. Copy the folder ‘application’ into your server, where you want.
  3. Rename it, if you want.
  4. Make sure to give read/write permission to the folder ‘data’, inside ‘application’ folder.
  5. Point your browser to that directory and follow the instructions to complete the installation.
  6. If everything went fine, you’ll be able to begin to edit immediately your xml file.

    This seems to be an AWSOME XML editor!
    It would be nice to see a site that uses XML that is listed in the admin.

    Please do that so people can see how stuff can be applied.

      Thanks Pedro. This is a good hint. The only problem is to maintain the demo up and running. When a lot of people can edit and delete stuff, it is difficult to keep it clean and working. For example the actual demo was fully functionally for a couple of hours, then I had to switch it to demo mode. I should to figure out a system to let people to try the application and keep safe the data.

    I have purchased your xml to CMS editor on Acive Den. I was wondering if you offer set up services for xml driven themes from active den since there is some set up involved in getting all pages with previews and properly integrated.

    If you ever get a chance some screen capture videos of different things being set up would be helpful.
